DIGITIZING
What is digitizing ?
Modern embroidery machines run on digital files called "stitch files". Each stitch that the machine makes to create the finished design must be programmed with a length, type, direction, section starting point and ending point, lock stitches, color changes and more! Though there is (very expensive) software that can do some of this automatically, the best programming is done by a skilled artist using creative judgement on recreating art with stitches. Embroidery ( and digitizing) are priced per thousand stitches. This is why a large, or very dense design costs more to digitize than a smaller, simpler design.
